Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about working with Lesedi Energy, our accreditation and how we lower your electricity bill and footprint.

Why choose Lesedi Energy?

We are registered electricians and SAQCC certified gas practitioners based in Montana, Pretoria, Gauteng. The work is done to SANS 10142-1 wiring standards and finished with the correct Certificates of Compliance. One local team looks at your whole bill (water heating, cooking, lighting and backup power) instead of selling a single product.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Electrical work is carried out by registered electricians with SANS 10142-1 compliant wiring, and gas work is carried out by SAQCC certified gas practitioners. You receive an Electrical Certificate of Compliance and, where gas is installed, a Gas Certificate of Compliance.

Our accreditations →

How do you help lower my electricity bill?

We start with how you use power today, then work through four pillars: smart switches and timers, geyser insulation, LPG gas for water heating and cooking, and UPS backup with rooftop solar. City of Tshwane charges more per unit as you use more, so every unit we take off your top blocks counts for more. Savings depend on your home and are indicative, not guaranteed.

See the Tshwane tariff blocks →

How does this lower my carbon footprint?

Most grid electricity in South Africa is generated from coal, so every unit you do not draw from the grid is a unit you do not burn. Smart scheduling, better insulation, gas for heating and cooking, and solar all cut the electricity you buy from the grid.

Is it worth doing?

Tshwane electricity tariffs have risen by about 10.6% a year on average since 2019/20. The 10-year projection on our home page shows what your current usage could cost with and without a strategy. The low-cost pillars (smart switches, insulation and gas) are the usual place to start, and solar and battery can follow.
